Masters Research Team: Dimensional Personality Disorder Diagnosis and Stigma in the General Population
As part of the 2020 Master of Professional Psychology research team, Shannon investigated how presenting a borderline personality disorder (BPD) diagnosis dimensionally rather than categorically affects stigma in the general population. Using online vignette experiments, the team tested whether framing personality pathology along a continuum reduced negative attitudes and improved understanding of BPD compared with the traditional categorical label.
